About Captain Cameron
Hi there! I’m Captain Cameron Whitaker, a Hatteras Island native. I started fishing with my father at a young age aboard his offshore charter boat, enjoying the offshore waters of Hatteras Island, NC. At the age of 10, I got my first boat! A 16-foot Carolina Skiff. The experience was amazing, and I learned the local waters while navigating through the Atlantic Ocean and Pamlico Sound.
At 16 I began my career as a first mate aboard the Cap’n Clam, a local inshore head boat located at ODEN’S DOCK. I spent my summers fishing with a variety of folks, learning something new from every individual. I also spent many days working aboard the Miss Hatteras, an offshore head boat, catching pelagic species and bottom fish. At the time, fishing was only a summer job since I was beginning my college career at East Carolina University.
At 20 I was a first mate for Captain Rick Caton aboard the Free Agent. I spent every day from the beginning of May to the middle of June sight casting for cobias and gained an extensive amount of knowledge and experience in regard to inshore fishing. We fished the waters ranging from Portsmouth Island, NC to Rodanthe, NC. The Free Agent offered inshore and offshore fishing charters. The days were never the same fishing for a variety of fish ranging from inshore to pelagic species.
During the summer of 2015, I decided I was ready to chart my own course and purchased my first inshore charter fishing boat. Since my dad is a successful captain, it seemed only natural that I follow suit! I am very excited about this new venture, and I cannot wait to give everyone the experience of a lifetime. Experience what Hatteras Island, NC has to offer.
